I am pinching myself – 20 years has gone by just like that!
We’re delighted that you’ve been able to join us as we kick off our 20th anniversary events and celebrations.
When we opened our doors back in 2004 this industry was in its infancy and when I reflect on our treatment menu back then – the options were limited. There was laser hair removal – of course, but even this has evolved now with faster treatments and greater comfort levels.
Botox was a guilty secret and a mystery to most people and of course we didn’t have social media – so we had no idea how “perfect” we could look.
This is a growing market and there has been an explosion of Medispas across the UK – every High Street has one. So we’ve gone from being one of the first – to one of many.
Back then the majority of David’s time was in the NHS, I was doing the laser treatments, and we had Ellie and two other therapists on the team. We now have 31 professionals from 10 different countries.
We’ve invested 100s of thousands of pounds in high tech equipment and this has proved to be transformative in achieving results once thought impossible without surgery. It was unimaginable back then that you would be able to freeze fat, stop sweat, effectively tighten skin or encourage hair growth without a general anaesthetic and weeks off work.
Our clients were in our hands and were guided by us.
Now – our clients are informed, empowered and actively involved in their treatment journeys. They come to us not just for procedures but for education, guidance and a partnership in achieving their aesthetic goals.
It has always been our mantra that results should be natural, beautiful and attractive and this is now much easier to achieve. None of our patients want to look “treated” but rather to look and feel healthy, vibrant and refreshed. Scientific advancements continue to embrace this.
We’ve had some challenges along the way! Floods, broken equipment, the pandemic and THAT CHAIR! The one that you only have to look at to get pregnant. Actually it has been a joy to welcome so many of our team back after having children or, as in Caroline and Tanty’s cases when they have gone to live abroad, decided the weather wasn’t very nice – and come back again.
Our philosophy has remained constant – we offer more than just treatments – we offer expertise, care and a deep understanding of the science behind the treatments.
Many of the large chains prioritise volume over quality and this has created big challenges on price.
It is interesting to note how often phone enquiries start with the question “how much do you charge?” – rather than asking about the skill or experience of the person who might deliver the treatment for them. While this has made some treatments more accessible it has led to a “treat-by-numbers” approach that is alien to the way we perform our treatments.
Our team’s thirst for knowledge is unquenchable. They possess not just technical skills, but a profound understanding of skin physiology, facial anatomy and the complex interplay of treatments and outcomes. They don’t just do treatments – they want great results.
An hour in our treatment room is worth so much more than just the treatment.
It is an education. You’re benefitting from years of accumulated wisdom and experience. I have known many of our customers for longer than our 20 years and I know just how much they appreciate this.
I’m immensely proud of our wonderful team. As I already mentioned some have been here since the day we opened – and many for well over a decade. This longevity is to be treasured and speaks volumes about our culture. One of professionalism, continuous learning, and genuine care for our clients and each other. It’s this culture that resonates with our loyal customers, many of whom have been with us throughout our entire journey.
We’re fortunate that David, my business partner of 20 years and Julia have put enormous effort into elevating and maintaining the professional standards that set us apart – our thanks to you both. Looking ahead, this industry will continue to evolve and Nakedhealth will be at the forefront, embracing innovation while staying true to our core values.
