Sclerotherapy IntroductionSclerotherapy is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat spider veins and varicose veins. It’s a popular choice for people who want to improve the appearance of their legs. Consultations and treatments are undertaken by highly experienced vascular surgeon, Keith Jones. About the treatmentDuring a sclerotherapy treatment a solution (sclerosant) is injected into the affected veins. Liquid sclerotherapy is performed with the patient lying on a couch in the consulting room and involves injecting a detergent-like material (the ‘sclerosant’) into the veins so that they empty of blood and shrivel up. Do I need to wear a stocking afterwards?Following some (but not all) liquid sclerotherapy, we apply a firm bandage and compression stocking to the leg. The bandage can usually be removed after 4 -6 days but the stocking should be worn continuously for 14 days. How do I prepare for Sclerotherapy? On the day of treatment wash your leg with ordinary soap but please do not apply any lotions or creams or perfumes to the leg afterwards. If possible, please do not take Aspirin or Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory painkillers (such as Ibuprofen) for 24 hours before treatment (they may increase bruising).Wear loose trousers and soft-shoes.What our customers say about Sclerotherapy ★★★★★ “The Nakedhealth experience is very welcoming and friendly.” ★★★★★ “My wife and I travel a great deal and have treatments at other Clinics.
