Introduction

Lip filler can be a great treatment to improve the volume and contour of the lips, making them appear fuller and more naturally plump. As we age, we lose shape and volume in our lips which can lead to a deflated, dehydrated appearance.

Lip filler uses hyaluronic acid injections to improve the hydration, contour and shape of the lips which leads to a more aesthetically pleasing appearance. It can also be used to correct asymmetry in some cases.

About the treatment

After a consultation and examination once deemed suitable for treatment, numbing cream is applied to the lips and left on for 15-20 minutes. Following this, hyaluronic acid is injected into the body / border of the lips via either a needle or a cannula. The treatment takes approximately 20-30 minutes.

Benefits, results and expected outcomes

You can expect there to be an increase in the volume and hydration of the lips immediately following treatment. This will normally last for 9-12 months depending on the type of filler used. At Nakedhealth, we use premium grade fillers which last longer.

Lip fillers – Frequently Asked Questions

Does the treatment hurt?

With the use of topical numbing cream, discomfort is minimal. In cases where topical numbing cream is not tolerated or ineffective, we can use a local anaesthetic injection to numb the lips beforehand.

What can I expect after treatment?

In most cases, we can expect the lips to bruise following treatment. This is due to the fact that they are a highly vascular area (has a rich blood supply). This normally settles within a few days.
We can also expect there to be swelling of the lips which normally settles by day 4-5 post treatment to reveal the final result.

Are the results permanent?

All cases of hyaluronic acid based filler treatments naturally dissolve over time. Results are not permanent.

Can it be removed if I don’t like it?

Yes! If needed, we can remove filler using an injection called hyaluronidase (an agent that dissolves hyaluronic acid based fillers).
